I love quizzes. When I was really super little and on vacation, I had a quiz book with probably hundreds of quizzes. Me loving them probably has to do with issues about who you are/being labeled/etc. but this time I am about to make up a quiz, that opposed to at the end having to count the number of A’s you answered or B’s and then see what “you are really like,” I am just going to leave a quiz, and then if you decide to take it, write down you answers, and then afterwards you can just look over your hopefully honest answers, and opposed to being labeled “to nice,” or “to weird,” you can just look over it and see what you truly are like. No, please scratch that, not what you’re like, that sounds to judgmental or something like that, just look them over and take it if you wish, and opposed to thinking of it as something that’s judging yourself, think of it as something to admire yourself by, think of it as answers that can help you love what you truly are. Have fun!
OMG I think I might have just come up with the perfect title. Seriously, if you dare, read on.
Maddie’s (haha) Don’t Judge, LOVE! Quiz….as follows…. p.s. please bear with me with these questions…I’m trying
Question #1
Would you rather….
a)Go to a concert
b)Go to prom
c)Go to prom and a concert
d)Stay home because you don’t have a date
Question #2
What do you believe…
a)God, I go to church, I read the bible, so I’m definitely going to heaven
b)If I am not forgiven for my sins by converting to Christianity, I will go to hell
c)I don’t believe in anything, religion is just some fake thing that people get angry at you for “acting” like you believe in something
d)I believe in what I want to believe in. It’s okay if you don’t believe in what I do
e)I believe in something, although I don’t exactly know what it is. Even though I know it’s horrible to have a bias opinion about someone because of their religion, I do. I’m not proud of it, but I do.
Question #3
What do you think is beautiful…
a) Someone who is not necessarily to anorexic, but still pretty thin, with gorgeous features, not necessarily that many curves.
b) Someone who is super thin—hence someone that when you go into a nightclub or bar seems completely un-self conscious, and every body stares at her.
c) Someone who is shy and kind of hides their beauty, but still has a beautiful face and is kind.
d) Someone who is super curvy, and is, for the most part, proud of it!
I am writing these out, and I just realized, that the majority of the things I’m writing have to do with body image. I meant to write this question as something to make people feel good about themselves, but to me I did the exact opposite. To me, this is what’s beautiful:
Someone who doesn’t necessarily have curves, or maybe she does. Someone who is at peace with what they look like, whether it’s curvy or naturally skinny. We’ve been studying in school about the greek gods. And if you look at a painting or sculpture of the greek god of LOVE and ROMANCE, Aphrodite, she is curvy and beautiful. Beauty is being compassionate and loving and pain. Beauty is being purely happy and in love and having tears stream down your face. Beauty is that one line in the Shins’s song, “Saint Simon” when he says “Mercy’s eyes are blue/when she places them in front of you/nothing holds a roman candle to/the sudden warmth you feel inside of you”
Beauty is being free and grounded and confused. Beauty is being yourself, or making the mistake of not being yourself. Beauty is when you look into your old friend’s eyes that you have just gotten in the biggest most horrible fight and are not friends anymore, but you still know that you love each other and that you’ll be together eventually. Beauty is me right now when I have no idea of what I am, and the thought of what I want to be seems to be holding me back. The thought of what I want to be seems like a trap, and something I’m not sure I want to be anymore. Beauty is the moment when you realize that a tear is streaming down you cheek, whether it’s happy or sad, and you realize that this is what life is. Beauty is me not knowing what that feels like right now. Beauty is when you’re at a concert and a song that has meant so much to you comes on, and you close your eyes, and you live. Beauty is everything. And I think that you are everything, that you are beauty too.
