I love sundresses. Love ‘em! I try to wear them as much as possible. However, unfortunately, sundresses this year seem to have been swallowed in the “shrinking phenomenon.”
Of course, I’m referring to the odious fact that every year, it seems that shorts get shorter, shirts get shearer, and clothing companies seem to want us to look near-naked. I personally attribute it to raunch culture (the hyper-sexualization of our society), or maybe clothing companies are trying to prepare us for global warmining*.
(Ironic, however, that the dwindling quantity of fabric isn’t matched by lower prices)
However, this is a real problem right now, because this year’s sundresses are TINY. I was told that this year, Old Navy had an unbelievable sundress collection, but when I went to check it out, the majority of the dresses hit far above my knees, and the plunging necklines hit closer to my bellybutton than my collarbone.
So this sometime to become engaged with? Should we write to companies and ask them to stop making their clothes so sexy? Or, should we invest in a collection of camis, leggings, and denim jackets, to wear under and over skimpy clothes to give us a little more coverage? I’m all for showing off one’s body and dressing a little risque, but I do a need a good supply of more conservative clothes to wear to meetings, to wear in front of my grandmother, and to run errands in.
*Joke.

Haha. Atleast not all the dresses are painted-on tight. Generous trapeeze dresses are in style instead!
