CBS and our favorite evil and cunning Fox refused to air a condom commercial. According to Planned Parenthood’s activation about the rejection of the ad, “The goal of the ad was to “turn the “men are pigs” maxim on its head by suggesting that a guy willing to take responsibility for safer sex by using a condom isn’t so bad. But the real controversy is coming from FOX and CBS, which have declined to run the ad, even in the late-night hours typically reserved for adult-oriented products like Viagra.”
In response, Planned Parenthood is energizing its grassroots with its “Prevention First” message, calling out Fox and CBS for their hypocrisy. Both networks are home to TV shows that promote sex and run advertisements for erectile dysfunction ads. Why are they now unable to promote the prevention of unintended pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases on air?
The New York Times reported that Fox’s policy is to only use contraceptive advertising that “stress(es) health-related uses rather than the prevention of pregnancy.”
Interesting. Don’t these wiley Foxes know that condoms prevent pregnancy but also have “health-related” uses? And since when is pregnancy not a health-related issue?
Truthfully, we have known for a long time that Fox is ahem-demonic-ahem , but what is CBS’s excuse?
Join me and many more Planned Parenthood supporters who think Fox and CBS are doing the public an injustice by rejecting advertisements that have the capability to save lives and prevent unintended pregnancies. It is outrageous that one of the few good advertisements they could run on air is being rejected. Since when has Viagra saved anyone’s life except maybe Bob Dole’s sex life?
