Hello! I am sorry that I have been gone for so long! I am currently in this town/village called Serento in Italy, it is really close to Naples and Capri. In the beginning of my trip my whole family was in Istanbul, Turkey which was pretty amazing. I was kind of in a bad mood so I didnt enjoy it as much as I could have but what was cool was when we went to a mosk. I had to cover up! The women whos arms and legs were exposed had to put a shawl around them, and there were many sexist things that exist there.
Next, we went on the boat. We stopped in many places in Turkey and Greece. Actually, at this one place in turkey, my wholeee family went to this mud bath place! There was this huge mud pool, (literally) and you went in until you felt thoroughly disgusted, then left to stand in the sun and dry. It was hysterical! The Greek Islands were very beautiful but the biggest dissapointment to me when it comes to the trip is that we didnt get to stop in Santorini, which, if you have ever seen a postcard from Greece, you know what it looks like.
One really amazing thing was that we went to this island called Patmos, which is where the revelation was written. And yes, I say revelation as in the last part of the bible. We went to the Cave of Revelation, which is where St. John had the revelation, and I cant even describe how incredible it was. We didnt get to go to a monastery which I really wanted to do, but the whole experience was out of this world.
We also went to this really famous island called Mykonos for dinner which was gorgeous! But none of the places we went were nearly as gorgeous as Serento. The villa we are in is located on a cliff on the edge of the water, and the adorable and fun and beautiful and gorgeous Italian town of Serento is like a 2 minute walk. Literally, if you look towards the ocean you are looking at Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii. If you ever had a history class you know that Mt. V is the gigantic volcano that once destroyed Pompeii back in Ancient Greecian times. Its gorgeous! But one of the greatest parts is the food. Italian food. I cant even describe it. Pasta at almost every meal, cheese, the most amazing eggplant, pizza, everything! Its brilliant! Haha I am having a lot of fun.
Cool and weird things:
At the bottom of the cliff there are caves. If you go down these stairs and unlock the creepy door, you enter a cave that goes all the way out to the ocean on this mini dock where you can jump off and swim. There are also some caves off of the ocean that, literally, if you follow them they will lead you to the center of the town! Serento is unbelievably gorgeous and if any of you are every in Italy I plead for you to stop by!!!
Also, I am ridiculously excited to, in a few days, head to Majorca, Spain for 7 days and celebrate my brothers bday, my parents, and their anniversary. I hope all of you are having an unbelievably wonderful summer!
