I was playing around on itunes doing the dangerous act of checking out other people’s amazing imixes for good songs I might have missed without surfing… While surfing a really great “indie chillout” mix I stumbled across Buffalo Tom’s “Late at Night”… I downloaded it immediately because my memory brought me back to the place where I first heard it… When I was fifteen my friends and I were obsessed with the TV show My So Called Life… Buffalo Tom’s songs were used on the show often, but this one reminds me of the intense chemistry of the main character Angela (Claire Danes) and the bad-boy but oh so cute hottie Jordan Catalano (Jared Leto)… This TV show defined a time that I hold dear… It was incredibly special and we lost something when it was cancelled. . Angela Chase represented the strong beauty and intellect of the many real young women who didn’t fit into the standards set by high school heirarchy. I am feeling nostalgic thinking about it… I had to blog because finding that song brought back warm feelings about simpler days of flannel, Nirvana, first kisses, folded notes passed in class, and parents who suddenly can’t understand…
