There is a new phone ladies (and gentleman) by Samsung and it is geared towards women. Now, like myself, I am sure you are wondering, what makes this phone more appealing to women than to men? Well, apparently women need to count their calories, check their BMI (Body Mass Index), check their Bio Rhythm (physical and emotional cycles, and (brace yourself) keep a pink schedule (maintain information regarding menstrual cycle to determine date of next period).
I simply cannot believe it. The pink schedule doesn’t bother me, if anything, that feature might be helpful, but the fatness calculator or the calorie counter? Is Samsung trying to tell us to watch what we eat? Are they suggesting that only women are obsessed with their body image? It seems that Samsung feels that women are focused on one thing: physical appearance and they are here to help us analyze our bodies even more via our cell phone! It’s awful enough that we have commercials on television, on billboards and in magazines telling us how to lose weight, what to eat, what to wear. We don’t need a phone encouraging us to count how many calories were in that cheeseburger we just ate or how many pounds over or underweight we are.
Thank you Samsung, for helping young women everywhere become even more self conscious about fitting into an unhealthy mold.
