Check out this article about a Scripps College professor who was a friend and pen-pal of Hillary Clinton during her high-school and early college years. I think it is amazing to read what this amazing woman was going through during her youth. It is amazing how our human experience is so connected and similar. Hillary went through so many things I have gone through and am still grappling with. I think you’ll find this to be an enjoyable and inspiring read…
Hillary was once just like us, questioning her beliefs, challenging herself, and changing her understanding of herself and her place in the world everyday…
and today’s she’s running for President.
I urge you to read these. It gave me insights into Hillary behind the soundbites, hard hairspray, and stern lips. It cut away from the ice, and showed me the warmth of heart that every progressive holds within us even though we express it in different ways.

Jamia, while I can admire Hillary for her accomplishments so far and relate to her based on these letters, I can never forgive her for the way she sold out the most cherished values of a civil society by supporting this war in Iraq– it’s sickening.
And while I admire her ability to achieve what she has as a woman, she seems to have far less respect and be far less willing to aid other Americans who are struggling against their own barriers and discrimination. One of my old friends was badly injured in a car accident, couldn’t work and now has to declare bankruptcy. But because of a very pro-corporate bankruptcy revision bill that Hillary has constantly supported, it’s much more difficult for ordinary Americans with such bad breaks to declare bankruptcy, while it’s much easier for corrupt corporations to do it. Which means that my friend is screwed at a time when she most needs help.
I’m sorry, but I won’t vote for Hillary Clinton if she’s nominated. My favorite Democrat these days is Barbara Boxer, followed by Barack Obama– if either of them is nominated for the Democrats I will enthusiastically vote for them. But not for Hillary. Period.
