Reese Witherspoon has a new role to play and while it doesn’t require her to sing a country tune or prepare for the bar exam, it will require her to speak out against domestic violence and help relieve women and their children from detrimental economic situations. Yesterday The Avon Foundation officially announced their first ever Global Ambassador and Reese gladly accepted. As many of you know Avon is a company that sells beauty products. It has much expanded since its beginning in 1886 when women from the company went door to door selling beauty products. The foundation began in 1955 and has since been committed to helping women in various ways.

According to Witherspoon, “I am very excited to be partnering with Avon. Avon is more than an iconic world class beauty leader — it is a company that is known the world over as a crusader for women’s causes. I am truly impressed by how Avon has been able to effect real change in the communities in which it does business, and by how committed the company is to providing economic and personal fulfillment to women all over the world. I feel a great responsibility in my own life to give back to society. Now, as the Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation, I am proud to be joining in the great philanthropic work that is already underway.”

Reese isn’t the only celebrity that is using her fame for a good cause. Angelina Jolie is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. She has certainly used her status to travel to places such as Balkans, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Kenya, Cambodia and Pakistan (just to name a few) for her cause. Other celebrities including Madonna, Melinda and Bill Gates, Bono (from U2) and Oprah have done astronomical things in order to help struggling countries.

Bravo ladies and gentleman, it is beyond heart warming to see these well known people taking the time to invest their name and their money into causes that stretch beyond just them. It’s evident that these people are dedicated to making life better and enjoyable for EVERYONE. (I am disregarding the people who do it clearly to gain more popularity) I hope that Reese’s accomplishments will soon be amongst these reputable men and women.
