I would love to to blurb a bit about my favorite magazine EVER!!!!!!!!!
Paste magazine!!!!!!!! Get ready, because this ramble that follows may conjure up a huge gust of wind that will blow you back in your seat a bit, so prepare and find a good and ready position.
Paste, “signs of life in music, film, and culture” as their cover boasts every month. This amaaaaazingly wonderful person named Desiree turned me onto this magazine and for my birthday bought me a subscription. The contents range from uncensored music reviews to indie movie reviews, without being obnoxious, prejudice, or untruthful. I also love it because it’s main music areas are in the indie rock range.
History of cover peoples in latest issues as found on Wikipedia:
2007: The White Stripes; Special Issue: Can Rock Save the World?; The Hold Steady, Modest Mouse, Norah Jones; The Shins
and some more favorites:
Elvis Costello; Radiohead’s Thom Yorke; Phillip Seymour Hoffman; Cameron Crowe (Illustrated by JONI MITCHELL!!!!!!); BRIGHT EYES; Death Cab for Cutie; Wilco; Rufus Wainwright; The Flaming Lips, Wes Anderson; Sarah McLachlan; 100 Best Living Songwriters (Bob Dylan)
And the list goes on!!!!!!!!!!!
They recently issued a fantastic article on, as you, know one of my favorite bands The Polyphonic Spree, and a great issue on “Can Rock Save The World?” talking about the history of the concerts for change. It is truly such a fun and hip and amazing and cool and interesting magazine that makes my heart start to thump and my feet begin to tap and my head start to quivvle when I notice it on my desk once a month. I urge you to check it out!
p.s. every issue comes with a free cd inside with a music sampler of all of the things they review…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
