My mom! I was thinking today about how much I admire her and all that she does. She is currently the Home and School Association president this year for my youngest sister’s school, which just so happens to be my grade school alma mater, as well as my other three siblings. She had to write a speech and give it basically in front of the entire school’s parent body.
She works tirelessly every day, chauffering us around when we were kids, making dinner every night. Honestly, a lot of my friends have come over and mentioned how they didn’t have too many times where their whole family ate together (if they could) nightly. I can’t tell you how many times my mom sat and did math homework with me endlessly at the kitchen table. You can bet her patience wore thin, but she still stuck with it. I was thinking today about how lucky my brother and sisters and myself were that we had a mother that was around so often.
On top of being what I think is a stellar mother, my mom also worked part-time as a physician at a shared practice with my dad. She continued her career and was a mother as well, proving that you don’t necessarily have to give up one or the other for the life of your dreams. She is exactly what I aspire to be, a hardworking, loving mom who raised a gaggle of children and kept up an exciting professional career and lived to tell about such a feat!
