Far from her Clueless days (or is she?), Alicia Silverstone latest endeavor is a nude (and somehow, scandalous) ad for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). In this “leave little to the imagination” commercial, she attempts to seduce the viewer by enrapturing him/her with her eyes and signature hair toss. She’s mumbling something about how becoming a vegan completely transformed her life, but the viewer is too wrapped up in watching a rear shot of her that it’s hard to multitask.
You know where I am going with this. Why on earth did she think it was a smart idea) to participate in this commercial? (Maybe she wasn’t really acting in the movie) She is certainly making a statement, and I congratulate her on sticking with something that she believes in but come on. I realize this commercial will certainly stick in people’s minds and I also realize that is exactly what PETA wants. They knew that a beautiful actress making love to pool water would catch people’s eyes, but here’s my question: is this ad really going to cause people to stop eating meat? Are there lasting effects? Silverstone isn’t the only advocate displaying skin. In another PETA ad, Pamela Anderson is “giving fur the cold shoulder” by posing seductively for the camera. I didn’t realize that if you can’t wear fur, you can’t wear any article of clothing.
Where are the naked men?
Weeds’ star Kevin Nealon also produced a PETA ad, in a suit. Why isn’t he skinny dipping in a pool or happily standing in the snow naked? Forest Witacker posed in a black sweater, a pair of jeans and next to his daughter in his ad for PETA.
Why are women still participating in the idea that in order to get their views across, nudity is a must? I believe both these women when they tell the world that animals need to be treated ethically. I just don’t need to see Pam’s right breast or Alicia’s junk in her trunk though while their words play as background music.
“Whatever” ladies.

I’m just going to say I would NEVER survive being a vegan. I like meat too much! haha

I understand what you are saying but I think its a bit harsh and dismissive by just saying whatever to it. Sex sells. That’s just a fact. And I’m not saying that as an excuse for them, its just true. And I also think that if that’s how they choose to portray it then, okay. I don’t think that’s necessarily the right way to do it, but I’m just kind of trying to see both sides…
