This is about a week old, but it’s still really interesting: the New York Times had a story on the popularity of the new word “vajayjay.” The author discusses how it could be a very positive word, because girls and women use the term “vagina” to describe their entire genital area, which perhaps leads to them not being able to articulate their desires and whatever health issues they’re experiencing down there if they don’t have the proper words… so “vajayjay” could become the new “vagina” and girls might actually start using the word vagina to refer only to their birth canals (which is a little more accurate).
Oh, and in other awesome news, for the past few years, the New York Times had only allowed access to their opinion pieces and archived stories to paid subscribers, but now the entire site is free to everyone. So read away! The Times is seriously great reading; they have a slight liberal slant and lots of fun articles in their style section, which is edited in part by Kara Jesella, a really amazing feminist writer.

As a woman who first heard va jay-jay on my favorite show ever, Grey’s Anatomy, I’m game. It’s a great word!
