I am working on the Fashion & Beauty Communications Milestone at SU. It’s such a unique and interesting program that allows me to study History of Fashion Design (even though I’m not in the Art & Design school) and Beauty & Diversity in the Media. At least, that’s what I am studying this semester. For my Beauty & Diversity class we analyze different aspects of the fashion media and how they affect the public. It is very similar to a sociology class and one of my favorites! Sadly, it must end soon with the semester but we have one final paper left. As opposed to previous assignments, this paper is completely up to us, we get to focus on 1 of the many topics we have discussed and research it. I chose size diversity and the effects it has on young girl’s development. I’ve found tons of unfortunate statistics and a lot of opinions! Not to mention quite a few references to Dove’s Self Esteem Fund. My favorite ad is their “Onslaught” commercial, it is absolutely brilliant. Please click below or on the image to the left to watch!
