I’m all about good publicity stunts that yield positive results for a good cause, however this PETA attack on the Olsen twins repulses me. The “Take On The Trollsens” campaign is mean-spirited and misogynist. I don’t love that the Olsens wear fur myself, however I don’t think it is appropriate to caricature a recovering anorexic in the name of political gain. I think there are so many other positive ways that PETA could gain support for their campaign without putting the Olsen’s bodies up for attack and scrutiny.
I’m sick of women being represented as spectacles in such a ruthless fashion. I am no fan of the Olsens, however I believe that PETA has gone too far. I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised that this would come from the same folks who had to suspend their extremely offensive slavery exhibit that compared animal cruelty with the enslavement and lynching of African-Americans.
I dont really think that creating this kind of public fiasco will result in the kind of change they want. Instead, they are perpetuating our celebrity obsessed culture and zealously objectifying women’s bodies in the name of their cause.
PETA… There has got to be a better way to get your point across.

I agree. No one’s going to listen if you scream it at them. If this is supposed to be something good to fight for, why do they have to bring people down to get their point across?

i agree with you. peta has been pushing my buttons for awhile, and everytime i attempt to give them another chance, they give me another reason to dismiss them. they are bullies.

PETA is not a company of bullies. This ad is gross, I agree, but I disagree with the statement calling PETA bullies. You have to be brash and bold for people to listen to you when you are fighting for animals. No one cares. While protesting, I have been spit on, had meat and dead animals thrown at me from a moving vehicle, and have been berated so many times I have lost count. THAT is what I call bully behavior. NOT the work that PETA does. They do good work. Research it.
Much much much respect.
