Just to shortly add to Hollis’s post….
I have read a little bit about Benazir Bhutto, but the main thing I remember reading was about her relationship with Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf. I read how they hated one another and had completely different views. I know that she risked her life every single day to be a political leader and have her vision heard and seen. When I first heard about her death I just thought, “Oh no.” It is such a sad thing to have happened. But maybe we can try to find some kind of light out of this. For all of these countries and this world filled with people who try to dictate other peoples lives. Who are we as America to go into another country, tell them to be different, and kill people saying it is the right thing to do? If something is so right, then why do you have to do so many wrongs to make it happen?? I don’t know very much about her or her life, but I think I know enough to be able to say that she risked her life for her people, and tragedy struck when that bullet went off.
p.s. Here is an interesting article that came out in the NY times today about how Benazir Bhutto “Won Washington.” It talks about how she understood how important America was and is to Pakistan and how important Pakistan was and is to America.
