Happy MLK Day! In honor of this special day, I am sharing an article I wrote for Teenwire.com about an amazing group of young women in the South Bronx. Sistas on the Rise is a collective and advocacy organization for young mothers working to provide young moms (mostly young women of color) with the resources and support they need. Offering a variety of services, in addition to a safe and welcoming space, Sistas on the Rise empowers young parents through leadership development and educational programs. Please take some time to check out my article and support Sistas on the Rise by joining their MySpace page, making a donation, volunteering, connecting them with other organizations that empower young women, or sending them a letter of support.
