So I saw Juno last month and I LOVED it. I thought it was funny, sarcastic and extremely well-written. It gave a unique insight into our generation that only a talented screenwriter could accomplish. I became instantly smitten with the mysterious person behind such a great indie movie.
Imagine my delight when I watched the Oscars and witnessed Diablo Cody, the woman who wrote Juno, win her first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. I thought it was so neat to see such a unique, effortlessly cool 29-year-old who started from humble beginnings.
According to a Wikipedia article on Cody, her pen name is Diablo Cody and her real name is Brooke Busey. She went to the University of Illinois and graduated with a media studies degree. Her first jobs were doing receptionist work at a Chicago law firm and later a proofreader at a Twin Cities radio station.
She later on wrote for Jane Magazine and now writes for Entertainment Weekly and is an Oscar-winning screenwriter. Definitely a female I plan to look up to…she’s done this all before 30 too!
